Bridal Details Checklist: Your Wedding Day Guide

Chances are, you’ve put a lot of thought into every little detail of your wedding day. From your shoes and jewelry to your invitation suite and flowers, these little pieces tell the story of your wedding and make your day uniquely yours.

The beginning of your wedding day is the perfect time for me to photograph all of these details before the excitement of the day really begins. Having everything gathered together and ready when I arrive means I can photograph your details without anyone having to spend the morning searching for missing pieces.

This bridal details checklist will help you know exactly what to gather ahead of time, along with a few tips to make the process as easy and seamless as possible.

Gather as many of these items as you have and place them together in one spot before I arrive.

You certainly don’t need every item on this list! The most meaningful details are the ones that are already part of your wedding day.

Add Meaningful Heirlooms to Your Wedding Details

Do you have a special heirloom that you’re incorporating into your wedding day? Maybe your grandmother’s wedding ring, a family necklace, a vintage handkerchief, or a handwritten note.

Include these meaningful pieces with your bridal details so they can be photographed alongside everything else. These are often some of my favorite details to photograph because they add a personal piece of your family’s story to your wedding gallery.

Include Styling Items for Beautiful Detail Photos

If you have extra styling elements that coordinate with your wedding colors and overall aesthetic, include those too. Ribbon, fabric, patterned paper, stamps, wax seals, or a beautiful tray can help create a cohesive look in your detail photos.

You don’t need to purchase anything specifically for me to use, but if you already have beautiful paper goods or styling pieces that are part of your wedding design, I’d love to incorporate them.

Consider a Mrs. Box for Your Wedding Rings

Ask Your Florist for Loose Flowers and Greenery

Loose flowers and greenery make such a beautiful addition to bridal detail photos. They add texture, color, and a little piece of your floral design to the images.

Ask your florist to include a few loose blooms and pieces of greenery when your bouquet is delivered. Your florist can usually set aside a handful of flowers specifically for me to use.

Wedding Photographer Detail Photo Tips

Tip #1: Have Your Flowers Delivered Before I Arrive

Ask your florist to have the bouquets, boutonnieres, and loose flowers delivered to your getting-ready location about 30 minutes before I am scheduled to arrive.

This ensures your flowers are ready to go when I arrive and gives me everything I need to create your floral detail photos without interrupting the getting-ready portion of your morning.

Tip #2: Have an Extra Invitation Suite Made for Detail Photos

If you had beautiful calligraphy, custom lettering, wax seals, or other special details added to your invitations, consider having an extra invitation suite made specifically for your detail photos.

You can even use a fake address or your venue’s address on the envelope. This allows me to photograph the full invitation design without worrying about bending, smudging, or damaging the invitation you’ll want to keep.

And don’t forget the envelopes! The envelope liners, stamps, calligraphy, and addressing are all part of the beautiful design and deserve to be documented.

Feel free to include your Save the Date as well.

Tip #3: Set Aside All Three Wedding Rings

Don’t forget all three rings!

Include the engagement ring, bride’s wedding band, and groom’s wedding band with your bridal details so I can photograph them together.

Once I’m finished photographing them, we can make sure they are safely given to whoever is responsible for holding onto the rings for the rest of the day.

Tip #4: Keep All Your Details Together

The easiest thing you can do to make your wedding morning run smoothly is to gather everything ahead of time and keep it together in one place.

Place your bridal details in a small box, bag, or designated area and let your planner, maid of honor, or whoever is helping you get ready know where they are.

That way, when I arrive, I can grab everything I need and get started photographing your details while you continue enjoying your morning.

Don’t Stress About Having Every Detail

Your wedding day doesn’t need to look like a Pinterest checklist to have beautiful detail photos.

If you don’t have a ring box, styling ribbon, heirloom, or extra invitation suite, that’s completely okay. The real details of your wedding day are what make these photos meaningful.
