Rainy Day for a Shoreby Club Wedding

What a day for Avalon and Braden! This Shoreby Club wedding was one for the books. Even though we had to deal with quite a bit of rain, we managed to capture this magic and enjoy each moment to the fullest. The sun decided to peek out at the end of the day as if heaven was smiling down on the stunning couple. We also managed to get out to the pier for a few moments and captured some of my favorite photos ever! From the stunning lake views to a dreamy tented reception, this day was one to remember.

After months of planning, one of my favorite things is to reflect with the bride about her wedding day. Read on to see why this day was so incredible.

Q: Please share about your favorite parts of your wedding day.

  • Marrying my best friend as well as reminding myself throughout the event that this was for us, about us, and worth every bit of planning as we start our lives together
  • Getting to see all of our family and friends in one place
  • Father/daughter dance, transitioned into my siblings and mother joining in for a more upbeat number
  • A reception outfit change into a 1970s-themed white jumpsuit

Q: Describe your wedding style and the little things you added to make your wedding special unique to you.

My wedding style includes: elegant, timeless, but traditional. Unique to me:

  • I made a wedding logo that we used on all of our stationary, to-go gifts, signage, etc.
  • We made a subtle theme based on butterflies (confetti, invitations, candy, dessert decorations, etc.); they’ve always held a special place in my life and are a symbol of luck
  • Home-made Italian desserts and to-go gifts were a way for me to bring my nationality into my wedding while also providing delicious treats for everyone to enjoy
  • Father of the bride made a large champagne tower to be used as a seating chart and an easy way to provide a quick drink to our guests. I used butterfly gummies for non-alcohol-drinking guests; he also made a card box in the form of a tiered-wedding cake for us, which was also a great talking-piece
  • We had a string trio and saxophonist, which provided more depth and noteworthy music for both cocktail hour and dinner

Any advice to future brides?

Be flexible. Unplanned things may happen, weather may surprise you, and tight time can get frustrating. However, this day is for you and your future husband. Set alone time aside to be together and remind yourself that this marriage is the most important item that day gave you.

Anything you would change?

Absolutely not. I think there’s ways to get picky at what could’ve gone different and maybe candles weren’t positioned in the right place, etc. But at the end of the day, all guests had fun, only great memories were made, and I got to marry my best friend. If it won’t matter in five years, it shouldn’t matter now.

How did I do? Did JKP enhance your day?

JKP did wonderfully! It rained for majority of our photos, but she remained patient, optimistic, and dedicated to her work. She still captured every moment in a way that almost made the day look like no rain had fallen.

Huge thanks to the incredible vendors who made this day so spectacular:
